Hyster Container Handlers for Czech intermodal terminal

AWT Ostrava-Paskov is an independent open terminal in the Czech Republic and required a solution to meet the growing demand for specialised handling services for reloading semi-trailers.

AWT blog1_ContentMain.jpgHyster RS45-24IH container handlers are now used by AWT for reloading semi-trailers and for intermodal handling. With demand for semi-trailers increasing, Hyster provided the Hyster intermodal container handler, incorporating a spreader with folding legs.

The dependable Hyster ReachStackers deliver high productivity and offer a lifting capacity of up to 45 tonnes in the first row. Provided on a comprehensive service contract, the equipment is supported by the local Hyster distribution partner, which guarantees a quick response in the event of a breakdown.

Operator comfort, outstanding ergonomics, excellent all-round visibility and a low noise level are delivered through the Hyster trucks, which feature the Hyster ‘Vista’ sliding Operator
Compartment. The sliding cabin, travelling up to 2.9 m, helps the driver to check the correct positioning of the semi-trailer on the wagon and stack a load of up to 11 tonnes on the second track.

AWT blog2_ContentMain.jpgStarted in 2007 near important industrial zones and close to the Polish and Slovak borders, the independent open terminal of the AWT group spans an area of 31,000 m2 and the open area storage capacity reaches 1,400 TEU (twenty foot equivalent units).

The basis of the terminal’s service portfolio is the reloading of 20-, 30-, 40- and 45-feet ISO containers and, in addition, the reloading of intermodal semi-trailers and swap bodies. The increasing interest in intermodal transport is caused by several factors including the increasing road transport costs connected with the expansion of toll systems in EU countries and the pressure to reduce the carbon footprint.
