H36-48XM(S)-12 Series Forklift Trucks

36-48t_Blog.jpgThe new 36-48 tonne series of forklift trucks offers maximum flexibility for a range of heavy-duty applications and is available either with standard forks, or with a fork-mounted, removable 20’-40’ telescopic container spreader. These heavy duty forklift trucks are ideally suited to steel, quarrying, mining and port applications and have the benefit of Tier 4i / Stage IIIB compliance and low fuel consumption.

The series consists of seven models, with the 36-40-44-48 tonne (@ 1,200mm load centre) models also being available in an “S” (short) 5.38m wheelbase version.  These versions are some of the most compact machines in this capacity available on the market, ideally suited to various heavy industry sectors.

Fast travel speeds and lifting speeds help contribute to reduced operating costs during a shift with class-leading lift speeds of up to 0.385 m/sec.

Powertrain

The new Tier 4i / Stage IIIB 36-48 tonne capacity forklift trucks feature the Cummins QSL9 -350hp engine (The Cummins QSM11, 300hp and 335hp versions remain available for Tier 3 compliant trucks).  Rated power for the QSL9 is 261 kW (350 hp) @2100 rpm, maximum torque is 1491 Nm (1100 lbs-ft) @ 1500 rpm and maximum power is 276 kW (370 hp) @ 1900 rpm.

The advanced auto-shift transmission available with this new engine option is the TE-27 series, with the TE-32 available as an option.   There is a protective forward / reverse shifting lock-out, a transmission protection system and a heavy-duty drive-axle featuring wet disc brakes.

Low cost of operation

In service, the H36-48XM(S)-12 offers a number of standard features to help the customer effectively manage truck operating costs.    For quick and easy service access, the cab features a powered side-tilt facility in combination with quickly removable lightweight aluminium floor plate sections.   Large 18.00x25 tyres (available as Bias pneumatics or Radial pneumatics) offer improved tyre life and lower running costs.

For the Driver

The focus is on driver comfort and excellent all round visibility.  The now familiar Hyster “Vista” cab, offers an outstanding range of standard ergonomic features, designed to achieve maximum productivity from the operator in every shift.

The dash display is positioned to the driver’s right-hand side to avoid unnecessary distraction from the operation in hand, and maximise forward visibility.  Excellent all round visibility is provided in the operator compartment, which is ideally positioned in a ‘mid-high’ and forward position for optimal visibility of the forks.

The fresh modern styling, with an increased family resemblance to the other members of the “Big Trucks” Range, introduces a downward sloping hood-line and low-profile rear counterweight, with integrated fenders.  Through-mast visibility is excellent and rearwards vision is greatly enhanced by the low profile and sloping-down shape of the new counterweight.

Air-conditioning is featured as standard and in-cab noise level is comfortably low at 75dB(A) according to EN12053.

Options

Operators also have a choice of controls.  Either a newly-designed Joystick for ‘single-handle’ intuitive control of mast lift & tilt and sideshift, and when fitted, spreader functions extend & retract, slew & reach, twistlocks; plus the horn.

As an alternative, for fork applications only, conventional levers and switches are available, featuring two levers for mast lift- and tilt functions plus switches for the sideshift- and fork-positioners.

In summary, Hyster has designed the H36-48XM(S)-12 for outstanding performance, reliability, low cost of ownership and reduced fuel bills for use in the toughest of environments.
